Sydney Rasmussen is a Counseling Intern and Education Specialist at Tamarack Grief Resource Center. As a Counseling Intern, she supports individuals navigating the grieving process with compassion, empathy, and evidence-based support. In her role as the Education Specialist, Sydney is working on reviewing, editing, and developing curriculum to document and support the programs that TGRC offers across Montana. With her 10 years of experience in outdoor education and leadership, Sydney brings with her a skill set of working with people through challenges, an appreciation for the power of being in nature, and the ability to create and execute plans, whether they are in the classroom or on trail. She is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Montana, continuing to develop the skills to support the people in her community.
MY “WHy”:
Grief and trauma are among the most universal human experiences, yet our culture often shies away from them. My hope is to create a space where every grief story can be shared without fear of judgment and where no one has to feel alone. Just as grief is unique, so is the path to healing. Whether through creating art, spending time in nature, connecting with animals, or exploring literature, I believe each person can discover the combination of modalities that best supports them. With creativity, openness, and collaboration, I am honored to walk alongside individuals as they navigate their own journey of healing and growth.
re-charging & delight-finding:
I feel blessed to have lived in 4-season places that let me have a variety of activities and hobbies to enjoy throughout the year. Spring and fall, I’m out mountain biking, summers are spent on rivers and winters are spent skiing, both cross country and downhill (all of which are done with my dog and husband in tow). While I don’t have horses in my life at the moment, my first and truest delight is time spent in the saddle or simply just being in their presence. When I’m not outside, I enjoy a variety of arts and crafts, but mainly painting, knitting or sewing.
